I think the author did a better job in the middle and end of the book than the begginning because when I just started reading I thought it was not that interesting but now I love the book...mostly the part where Killer Kane comes in.
I would revise this later. What is it about the introduction of Killer Kane that changes the novel? How does he change or alter our view of the characters?
I don't know, it's mostly the feeling you get when the book says "(quote) I think I hear the wind right here in the room. Except it's not the wind. Someone breathing......" When I read that I just couldn't stop reading because you know that's Killer Kane, and you know that something interesting was going to happen.
I couldn't use quotes here because I didn't have my book.

I think that the part where Killer Kane comes in is interesting too, because it makes Max think about trusting himself, which is hard for him to do.
